The Andechs Monastery is a magnet for visitors from all over the world. The Bräustüberl and the Klostergasthof provide for physical well-being at the „Holy Mountain“. Of course, all products from the in-house monastery butchery, distillery and brewery can also be purchased for home consumption.
But the monastery also regularly offers events and a comprehensive cultural programme.

Gastronomie am Kloster Andechs
Why is the gastronomy at Andechs Monastery particularly recommended? Well on the one hand, regional, often home-made, dishes are particularly important. So there are all kinds of delicacies from the Andechs monastery butchery. Whether you prefer good Bavarian home cooking or newly interpreted, upscale Bavarian cuisine – there is something for every taste. In Andechs you can feel the love for the products on the one hand and you can also feast on them. And we haven’t even mentioned the beer yet… Well, since 3 beers are a schnitzel as well – dig in!
Das Andechser Bräustüberl mit Biergarten
On the menu you will find all kinds of regional delicacies from the Andechs monastery butcher’s shop. We can warmly recommend the „best knuckle of pork in the world“, often described by our guests as „the best knuckle of pork in the world“, as well as a classic Obatzda snack. Again and again brass bands come and accompany the hustle and bustle in the beer garden (especially the weekend early morning shopping) with hearty music. The Andechs monastery beers are of course all served and are all worth tasting, but the Andechs winter beer is considered a speciality. Information on tastings can be found further down on this page.
The Bräustüberl is open all year round from 10.00 – 20.00 hrs, with the exception of the high holidays on 24/25 December, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
Since April 2019 the Klostergasthof at Andechs Monastery has been in new hands: Manfred Heissig & Ralf Sanktjohanser are the names of the two new tenants who will spoil their guests with creative, newly interpreted regional classics: Here, craftsmanship meets love for the product. The recipe for the crusty roast can already be melted on the tongue: „Marinated the day before, fried crispy on bones and vegetables. Refined with caraway, honey, garlic, parsley and dark beer.“ But enough raving, those who want to experience Bavarian culinary delights are welcome to make themselves comfortable in the Andechs Monastery Inn.
The Klostergasthof is open Wednesday to Thursday from 11.00 to 21.00, Friday from 11.00 to 22.00, Saturday 10.00 to 22.00 and Sunday from 10.00 to 21.00.

Not only the beers are outstanding at the Andechs Monastery, but also the schnapps is worthy of praise. And with all the choice you sometimes can’t make up your mind and would like to take them all with you. If you would like to learn more about the ingredients and production methods of the schnapps and liqueurs, as well as the history of the monastery distillery, while enjoying a special treat, you are welcome to join a guided tour. But you have to register 2 weeks in advance, the costs are 50 € per group of 1-10 persons.
Das Kloster Andechs
The monastery of Andechs is Bavaria’s oldest place of pilgrimage and has been run by the monks of the Benedictine order since 1455. Historically, however, life on the „Holy Mountain“ dates back to the 10th century, so you can also embark on an exciting journey through history in Andechs. The work of the monks in the monastery is based particularly in the pastoral care for pilgrims, parish pastoral care for surrounding communities and in the management of the economic enterprises of the monastery of Andechs.
At over 700 metres above sea level, the characteristic onion tower can be seen from afar. And a look inside is also worthwhile: numerous paintings can be admired and the organ always enchants the ears of visitors at concerts. The pilgrimage church can be visited daily from 8.00 – 18.00h. Church services are held on Sundays at 9.30, 11.00 and 18.00. Evening mass is always Wednesday at 18.00h with vespers.
Throughout the year there are several fixed events which already have a tradition at the monastery of Andechs: There is the night flea market to browse in style, usually in mid-October, or the Andechs Organ Autumn, which lasts throughout September. Andechs is also known for its regular concerts. The monastery of Andechs is also very suitable for your own events, a little more chic in the Fürstentrakt, or for larger events the traditional Florian Stadl.
